4 Tips for a Fabulous First Impression

Did you know that first impressions are formed in as little as 5 seconds?  Creating a memorable and positive impression can be pretty easy if you practice the following tips:

1.)    Never under estimate the power of body language. Stand tall when meeting someone, present a genuine smile and maintain appropriate eye contact. Doing these three little things exude confidence.

2.)    Dress to Impress. Think about the event or meeting you are going to attend and dress accordingly. If you aren’t sure about what others will wear, it’s always better to dress up versus down.  Shine your shoes, have a clean tailored suit, an appropriate hairstyle, wear classic jewelry and be aware of whether or not you have fresh breath.  

3.)    Always repeat names.  After introducing yourself, repeat the other person’s name in your following sentence. People love to hear their name being called out and almost always warm up to others when their name is used.

4.)    Speak Clearly.  Articulate your words and mirror the person you are speaking with. If you happen to be talking to a slow talker, slow down.
